Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx have managed to keep their relationship off the radar, but the couple is still being hit by controversy especially in relation to Holme's former relationship with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Before Foxx and Holmes confirmed their relationship in June this year, the two were the subject of dating rumors for months. There were rumors that they kept their relationship out of the spotlight because of Cruise and Scientology.
There were rumors that Holmes and Cruise's divorce papers held a clause that prohibited the former from dating anyone publicly for five years and divulging anything about Scientology. It was also said that Holmes would lose $4.8 million in child support and a $5 million settlement if she broke the agreement.
Another version of the story suggests that Holmes kept her relationship Foxx quiet in order to protect Suri, Holmes' daughter with Cruise. The estranged couple reportedly wants to maintain a civil relationship in order to allow Suri to have a normal childhood.
It seems that things are going well with Holmes and Foxx as reports swirl that the couple are now engaged.
According to Hollywood Life, a source revealed that Foxx called Cruise and told him that he loved Holmes. The source also revealed that Foxx told Cruise it would be best for Suri if she was brought up in a stable family.
Cruise reportedly gave the engagement his blessings, despite his initial reservations about the relationship.
Foxx and Holmes are reportedly planning a big party for their wedding, with a source saying that the couple wants it to be a "fun, lighthearted event."
Holmes first sparked engagement rumors in January when she sported a giant ring on her finger.
Holmes and Foxx's relationship was confirmed by "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Claudia Jordan during an interview with the "Allegedly" podcast in June. When asked about Foxx's relationship with Holmes, Jordan commented, "He is very happy with her. I like that he seems very happy." E! News added that an insider revealed the relationship has been "going on for years" and that it's "not a secret among their friends."
