The latest details for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will feature new character customization, playable fighters and the open beta release date announcement.
Bandai Namco showcased a new gameplay trailer for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" during the Tokyo Game Show 2016 event as Time Patroller Trunks and Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time will be explaining the events that led to the sequel.
As seen on the trailer, the villains from the previous game, Towa and Mira are disrupting time once again and has gathered other "Dragon Ball" villains like Lordg Slug, Cooler and Turles to fight the Time Patrollers. Gamers can create their own characters in a new Hub City called "Conton City" and just like the previous game, they can choose five races; Human, Saiyan, Namekan, Frieza race and Majin race each having different abilities and transformations like Super Saiyan, Great Namekan, Golden Frieza form etc. Gamers can also customize their character's appearance from wearing gi uniforms to casual clothes, making them unique and different from the rest of the players online
The new "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" trailer also featured several iconic scenes from the "Dragon Ball" anime such as the death of Future Gohan, which led to Future Trunks' Super Saiyan transformation and Majin Vegeta's sacrifice to defeat Majin Buu. There are also new playable characters like the Super Saiyan Blue versions of Son Goku and Vegeta, Time Breaker Bardock and Time Breaker Golden Frieza, Siliconera reported.
In addition, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" introduces a new game mode called "Expert Mission" were in gamers will team-up to do a mission online. There will be six players in the game mode as they fight a gigantic NPC player such a great ape Vegeta or Bardock. The single-player mode features twice the number of quests than the first "Xenoverse" game, parallel quests from the original game, and a new system for rare item drops, which contain costumes and accessories for their characters.
Bandai Namco announced that the close beta is scheduled on Oct. 8, while the open beta test is set on Oct. 14. What makes it interesting is that the both beta test are only for the PlayStation 4 console and no word for the Xbox One and PC versions, PlayStationLifeStyle reported.
Game producer Masayuki Hirano previously teased the possibility of having "Dragon Ball Super" episodes in "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" as he and Bandai Namco plans to add more free updates and paid DLC for the sequel. Future Trunks and Black Goku from the "Future Trunks" saga will be available as pre-ordered DLC characters.
Bandai Namco looks to improve the online content for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" so that gamers from around the world can interact and play with one another, whether doing quest and fighting in tournaments.
"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" will launch on Oct. 25 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
