Lowly club Empoli FC (1-2-1, 4 points) will try to continue their two-game unbeaten run as it clashes with streaking squad Inter Milan (2-1-1, 7 points) in a 2016-2017 Serie A season match set at the Stadio Carlo Castellani on Wednesday, Sep. 21.

Empoli began the season with a two-game losing skid to Sampdoria and Udinese but managed to string a couple of unbeaten performances in their next two assignments.
After pulling off a 2-1 win over newly-promoted team Crotone in their third game, the Blues had settled for a 0-0 draw with Torino last Sunday at the Olimpico di Torino to avoid another loss in their young campaign this term, as per the Mirror.
With the draw, head coach Giovanni Martusciello's side managed to avoid dropping to the bottom three relegation area by only a point. The team is currently at the 17th spot of the 20-team Italian top flight table, tied on points with Torino, Cagliari, and Pescara but has the lowest goal difference among the four teams.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan pulled off a huge upset in their most recent game, nipping five straight Scudetto winners Juventus, 2-1, at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro last Sunday, Calcio Mercato reported.
The two powerhouse Italian clubs fought hard in a goalless first half of play as the game remained scoreless until Juve midfielder Stephan Lichtsteiner broke the deadlock with a close range shot at the 66th minute.
I Nerazzurri was quick to respond, though, as team captain Mauro Icardi received a pass from midfielder Ever Banega and buried a header to equalize the count only two minutes later.
With the score tied at 1-1, Inter's substitute winger Ivan Perisic found the winning goal at the 78th as he was also able to hit a header from the center of the box with the assist this time coming from Icardi.
It was a huge win for new head coach Frank de Boer's side as the team is now unbeaten in their last three games.
