John Cena is the face that runs the place for a reason. The Cenation leader has been the epitome of success over the last decades, racking up numerous championship belts - including 15 world titles - and more importantly overcoming all the challenges presented to him.
14 years into his WWE career, and Cena is still giving not only his contemporaries but the young guns a run for their money every time he steps in the ring. In the dawn of a New Era in the WWE, the promotion is looking for ways to maximize Cena's popularity by pitting him against their up-and-coming stars.
WWE.com recently posted a video teasing five potential matches all involving Cena. The Undertaker and Shane McMahon were mentioned as intriguing opponents for Cena, but the inclusion of these three rising stars certainly piqued the curiosity of every wrestling fans out there.
Samoe Joe - the former NXT champion has already slugged it out with Cena eons of years ago as part of the California-based promotion, UPW. Everybody knows what happened next. Cena turned into a mega-star in WWE, while Joe took a long but legendary journey to the no.1 wrestling promotion in the world.
Nevertheless, Joe remains an imposing opponent for anyone, even the great John Cena since he has created a reputation as one of the best technical wrestlers in the business over the last two decades. His stints in Ring of Honor and TNA were absolutely outstanding, earning himself the reputation as the most-sought free-agent before joining WWE in 2015 as part of the NXT roster.
Shinsuke Nakamura - The three-time IWGP champion has built a reputation as big as John Cena created throughout his career in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The King of Strong Style has also beaten the bests over the course of his stint in Japan, including the Phenomenal One A.J Styles - the wrestler Cena is having trouble beating.
A showdown between Cena and Nakamura would provide an earth-shaking feel for the company, since these two are great in-ring workers. Nakamura's physicality and charisma would complement Cena's ruthless aggression, paving the way for one of the best rivalries in recent memory.
Finn Balor - Speaking of New Japan Pro-Wrestling product, Finn Balor 'the Demon King' is another guy that could keep Cena's career relevant at this point. Balor is oozing with that 'It Factor' to the point that almost all of his matches were breathtaking to watch.
A potential feud with Balor would force Cena to reinvent his persona, as he is facing an unknown force for the first time since his battle with the Undertaker. Balor's career would also benefit a lot from these matches Cena, especially if he's booked properly as a heel.
