Avid Korean drama fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the tvN drama "The K2" that stars Ji Chang Wook and Girls Generation YoonA. In recent interviews, Ji has shared his thoughts on the drama's difficult action scenes, as well as his on-screen chemistry with YoonA.
The upcoming bodyguard drama "The K2" is a highly anticipated series given its intense action scenes, suspenseful storyline and talented cast members. The trailers previously released by tvN has already given viewers a quick glimpse at the drama's fight sequences and explosive moments. Some of the teased action scenes feature the South Korean actor Ji who displayed his fighting abilities.
However, the "Healer" actor commented during the drama's press conference held on Sept. 20, Tuesday, that he had a challenging time filming the said scenes. Ji stated that the difficulties he experienced in the upcoming tvN series has strengthened his resolve to forego participation in future action drama projects, Yonhap News quoted the actor as saying.
Ji also described the upcoming tvN drama as the hardest acting project that he has participated in. He even recounted some of the preparations that he made for his role in the series. The actor will portray the former mercenary soldier Kim Je Ha who became a bodyguard to co-star YoonA's character Go Ahn Na.
The "Empress Ki" star recalled the two months that he spent at an action school to learn the needed martial arts moves for the drama. He also indicated that he had to spend a lot of time working out to build up his muscles for "a masculine look" to fit his mercenary and bodyguard role.
Apart from sharing the intense physical preparations for the drama, Ji also praised his co-star YoonA for her on-set behavior and professionalism. The actor described the Girls Generation group member's personality as bright. Ji shared how YoonA would make the crew members laugh while on the set of the upcoming tvN drama, All Kpop quoted him as saying.
Ji also made mention of his and YoonA's great chemistry, as well as the Girls Generation singer's dedication to her work as an actress. He stated, "She is someone who is very obsessed with and ambitious about acting and thinks a lot about it."
"The K2" will premiere on Sept. 23, Friday, on tvN.
