Sting and The Undertaker are two of the greatest wrestlers to ever live but they have never been in a match. However, the latest rumors suggest that a Sting vs. The Undertaker match might still be possible for WrestleMania 33.
In a recent episode of Legends with JBL, Sting revealed that he is delaying his neck surgery because he still wants to face The Undertaker in the match. He called it "unfinished business" because wrestling fans still want to see it.
"I am supposed to have surgery, but I'm having so many mixed messages out there," Sting said, as transcribed by Wrestling Inc.
"Yeah, that's the unfinished business. I've always wanted to have that match. I know wrestling fans have always wanted to see it too," he added.
However, it should be noted that the 2016 WWE Hall of Fame inductee announced his official retirement from wrestling during his speech. Sting suffered the injury when he mistimed the impact of a turnbuckle powerbomb from Seth Rollins at Night of Champions 2015.
The 57-year-old legend is still in great shape and showed last year that he can still wrestle at a high level. He came in close to defeating Triple H at last year's WrestleMania but people chanted that Sting still got it.
On the other hand, The Undertaker has not appeared on WWE television since defeating Shane McMahon in a Hell in a Cell Mach at WrestleMania 32. There were rumors that he is unhappy with Vince McMahon but it has never been confirmed.
The 51-year-old future Hall of Famer is also in great shape and wrestled a highly dangerous match with ease. There were rumors that he might be returning soon but it appears he will only be wrestling again at WrestleMania 33. But will it be against Sting?
According to The Inquisitr, The Undertaker might be facing John Cena in another dream match at WrestleMania 33. It was one of the planned matches this year but Cena suffered a shoulder injury prompting the WWE to call Shane-O-Mac.
There were also reports last year that Vince is not a fan of two 50-year-old wrestlers facing each other at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Also, Sting's health is still the priority and it would be foolish for him to wrestle again with a neck injury.
Nevertheless, anything is still possible in wrestling but we just have to wait and see what will happen. Check out the video below to watch JBL interview Sting on his WWE Network exclusive show.
