The divorce petition filed by Angelina Jolie to split from Brad Pitt has been revealed. The document has come to light as the actress filed for divorce from her husband of two years of marriage following a relationship of more than a decade.
The actress has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. The document shows that she has requested physical custody of their six children and has asked that Pitt be granted with visitation rights.
The divorce petition obtained by Mirror also shows that the actress wants her estranged husband to have joint legal custody of their kids. She will not be seeking spousal support.
The document reveals some of the expensive possessions Jolie is keen to keep following the breakup, which includes miscellaneous jewellery and other personal effects. The jewellery is listed under separate property along with earnings and accumulations she made from and after the date of separation.
Jolie is being represented by Hollywood lawyer Laura Wasser. The actress also wants additional separate property assets, the exact nature and extent of which are not presently known.
The news of Jolie and Pitt's divorce does not come as a surprise since the rumours of problems between the two had been there for past few months. It is being speculated that Jolie's decision has to do with the way Pitt was parenting the children and she was extremely upset with his methods. She has mentioned the date of separation as Sept. 15.
Popular as Brangelina, Jolie and Pitt tied the knot in August 2014 after a relationship of 10 years. The two had met on the sets of "Mr and Mrs Smith" when he was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Soon after the actor got separated from the "Friends" star.
The break-up was reportedly hard on Aniston, who remained single for a long time. She has recently tied the knot with Justin Theroux. While the actress has seemingly moved on in her life, a source told Us Weekly that the actress feels somewhat satisfied over Jolie and Pitt's divorce announcement.
Ironically, Jolie and Pitt have starred together in most recently worked together on 2015 film "By The Sea," a relationship drama about an estranged couple, written, directed and produced by the actress. Watch the trailer below:
