The Sept. 22 trial date for the first female accuser of South Korean singer and actor Park Yoochun did not push through on Thursday as scheduled.
A Korean court reset the hearing for A, her male cousin and boyfriend to Oct. 13, reported Soompi. The three are facing attempted blackmail and false accusation for claiming that the JYJ member sexually assaulted A inside the bathroom of a bar where she is employed.
They later allegedly asked Park Yoochun to pay them millions of won to keep silent so as not to destroy the career of Park Yoochun. She was arrested in August and is in a detention center. Her lawyer requested bail for A to have her released at the trial so she could exercise the right to defend herself. The lawyer claims she has no intention of escaping or destroying evidence.
The sexual assault case has affected the career of Park Yoochun. Recently, his JYJ bandmate Junsu held a solo concert in Shanghai as part of his ongoing eight-city Asian tour, reported Yonhap News. The tour is part of the promotion following the release in June of Junsu’s fourth solo full-length album “SIGNATURE,” according to C-JeS Entertainment which handles the career of JYJ.
Junsu, 29, will perform 15 concert in eight cities in South Korea, Japan, China and Thailand as part of his fifth Asian tour. It is surprising that he was allowed by China to hold a concert in Shanghai since the country has an existing ban on Korean celebrities because of the THAAD missiles, although a few weeks ago, “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki was able to promote a cosmetics brand also in Shanghai.
