A 71-year-old Chinese geese farmer who has become a viral sensation because of his fashion sense has a slightly older competitor in Britain. However, while Wang Zhousong is famous for the way he wears youthful clothes, 75-year-old Bruce Barker, a grandfather, is known for his nude poses.
Barker credits his buffed body to thrice-a-week workouts. He earned extra money on the side, adding to his pension, by working as a nude model beginning in 2012, reported Mirror.
He caught the attention of art tutors when he posted an ad in Gumtree. Before that, he was asked while in gym if he would consider posing nude for a local artist. Although surprised and intrigued by the request, Barker gave it a try and followed it up by making a portfolio of nude shots taken in South Wales which was posted in MadcowModels, an art association where he is a member.
Barker, who used to work in sales, is paid £25 to £45 per session for nude poses which he has to hold for as long as three hours. Because he is fit a his age, “I found I was able to hold poses longer than most people,” says Barker who admits stripping in front of a class is daunting, but after a while he got the swing of it.
It turns out he has a lot of practice being nude since Barker is admittedly a bit of a naturist which he does at an enclosed garden in his house at Caerphilly. He shared, “I have never felt self-conscious – I felt liberated doing it. I got a buzz out of it.”
But he has also branched out into clothes modeling, samples of which are in his website. Barker is a full member in seven art organizations. These are in Casting Networks, The Register of Artists Models, MadCow Models, PurplePort, Art Nude UK, Bohemia Artists Models and the Guild of Erotic Artists.
In July, he did his first magazine shot for Elska, distributed in 15 countries for its September edition.
