The on-screen chemistry and closeness between the lead stars in a drama project often contribute to the success of a show. Recently, South Korean actor Ji Chang Wook revealed how he and co-star Girls Generation group member YoonA tried to develop a close rapport with each other in the tvN drama "The K2."
Ji gave a candid interview during his and YoonA's appearance in the TV show "Taxi." In the episode that aired on Sept. 27, Tuesday, the actor recounted how he tried to get closer to the Girls Generation singer while they were in Spain to film some scenes for the tvN drama "The K2."
The said drama marked the first time that Ji and YoonA met and worked together. Despite the initial awkwardness expected from a first meeting and work collaboration, the two Korean celebrities soon developed a close friendship while in Spain.
Ji revealed that he heeded the advice given by the drama's director who stated that they should get better acquainted with each other in the fastest time possible. It appears that being close with one another would be one way to ensure that the two stars' awkwardness will not appear on-screen during filming.
A coffee meeting in Spain and a great conversation paved the way for Ji and YoonA to grow close to each other. The actor was the one who extended the coffee chat invitation to the Girls Generation group member as his way of breaking the ice. Shortly after the coffee chat, the two stars became more comfortable and acted more naturally towards the other.
In other news, "The K2" marked its premiere week with positive reviews and good TV ratings. The tvN drama was ranked the most viewed show among women viewers from the age of 10 to 50, according to Korea Herald. Its first episode that aired on Sept. 23, Friday, also garnered a viewership share of 3.8 percent while its second episode posted a TV rating of 4 percent.
Meanwhile, producer Kwak Jung Hwan complimented both Ji and YoonA for their hard work and impressive acting in the tvN drama. In an interview with TV Report, the showrunner applauded the two Korean stars for their commitment to their respective roles.
