"Game of Thrones" actress Maisie Williams added some star quality to a charity ball in Bristol on Sept. 29, Thursday, at Bristol Hotel in Prince Street. She supported the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children's 30th anniversary of its Childline helpline.
Earlier in the day, Williams was part of the Speak out Stay Safe workshop in a school in Bristol in support of NSPCC's campaign to raise awareness on child abuse and bullying. The activity was about teaching school children how to deal with bullying. Williams experienced bullying because she was singled out to be different, having landed on one of the key roles in HBO's massive hit "Game of Thrones."
In a studio interview with iTV, Williams reacted to bullying. She said she kept it to herself and that is really the worst thing you can do.
"You need to find a trusted adult," Williams said. "You need to find someone you can speak to about it. You need to get help."
Williams dealt with bullying by telling her mother who sorted everything out and solved the issue. She added it is important to inspire kids to speak out their problems.
The Bristol-born actress heard about the recent charity activity in the area and jumped at the chance to take part of it. She attended NSPCC's Ball in Bath earlier in the summer.
The 19-year-old actress who plays Arya Stark in "Game of Thrones" since she was 12, is one of the youngest cast members of the HBO show. Her character is among the few who survived in all the six seasons.
Aside from Williams, the NSPCC Ball was attended by singer Chloe Rose who donated the proceeds of her debut single "For Me" to NSPCC-supporter Wayne Rooney Foundation, Bristol Post reported. Ian "Roycey" Royce who appeared on "The Xtra Factor," hosted the proceedings.
The NSPCC fundraising auction was directed by "Homes Under the Hammer" presenter Martin Roberts. Most funds of the organization come from donations, so they hold fundraising events for their support services.
Furthermore, Williams recently went to Greece with "Game of Thrones" co-stars Lena Headey and Liam Cunningham to help support refugees. Here is a clip of the three when they visited the refugees:
