It might not be one of the best smartphone in terms of hardware specification, the HTC One M9 shines on its own when it comes to aesthetic and design making its more of a fashion phone compared to other Android rivals.
The HTC One M9's design relies mostly on its predecessor, the M8; in fact the two phones look exactly the same at quick glance. Both phone is sports a metal body and has rounded corners with the BoomSound speakers located above and below the display screen. HTC made a minor change on the M9 by relocating the power button which was previously at the top side and put it somewhere around the edge of the phone.
The M9 is smaller compared to the M8 but it's only a matter of a few millimeters and the change is completely undistinguishable until closely checking the exact specifications, according to The Verge. The phone's 5-inch LCD display also received an upgrade and appears to be much brighter compared to the M8 while still rendering 1080p display resolution.
The "ultrapixel" feature for its main camera was ditched by HTC; instead the company integrated a 20-megapixel camera that has 4K video recording capability as well as a sapphire glass lens. A review from PCMag says that the camera is excellent in taking photos but the video camera mode is plagued an autofocus problem. Instead of totally ditching the "ultrapixel" feature, HTC integrated it to the M9's 4-megapixel front camera.
For storage conscious users, the M9's storage capability can still be upgraded using the MicroSD slot and can hold up to 128GB which would be a big boost to the standard 32GB internal storage and 3GB memory.
The M9 runs using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. This is the same processor that is used by the LG G Flex 2 but HTC used software optimization which made the M9 very fast. The M9 also uses the same Qualcomm modem present in the iPhone 6 and the Nexus 6, probably to support the four biggest network providers in the United States. HTC's new smartphone will also run using the Google 5.0.1 Lollipop operating system.
The phone will be released on the US market on spring.
