"American Horror Story" Season 7 was ordered by FX on Oct.4, Tuesday. The Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's hit horror anthology series renewal came roughly a month after the premiere of Season 6's "Roanoke" that drew 13 million viewers across all platforms.
Before the good news, it is expected that FX is renewing "American Horror Story" Season 7 since Season 6 achieved high ratings. The Season 6 premiere has gained its label as the third-most-watched episode of the franchise after "AHS: Freak Show" and "AHS: Hotel."
"Ryan, Brad and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job," E! News quoted CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions John Landgraf as saying. "They have kept American Horror Story endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining and we are honored to move ahead with them on the seventh installment."
FX executives believe that the performance of each season for six years have proven how fans appreciate the stories they offer. Aside from the success of "American Horror Story" when it comes to ratings, the show has reached a milestone of garnering 15 Emmy wins since its debut.
So far, creator Ryan Murphy revealed that he already has a theme for "American Horror Story" Season 7. He declined to give hints about its plot. The creator also teased that he and another writer are working on a secret season that comes as an experiment for the show.
It could be remembered that Season 6 was wrapped with a lot of speculations following a total of 24 different misdirect promos that only gave one correct theme associated with the season. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy said that they always do everything by the book and so this time, they want to offer a varied experience for their fans.
After "American Horror Story" Season 7 announcement, FX is already looking forward for Season 8. The momentum of the show seemed unstoppable at the moment. Landgraf even admitted that they have not planned any ending for the show yet.
As long as Murphy is coming up with original "AHS" stories that viewers are willing to watch, there is no slowing down for the show. "AHS" will only come to an end when it could no longer offer fresh ideas and stories.
"AHS" Roanoke airs every Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on FX. Check out the Season 7 latest news:
