It was just on Sept. 2 when the hit crime and drug series, "Narcos," ended its second installment showing the death of its lead character, Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura). Now, recent reports claim that "Narcos" Season 3 will showcase the 'Cali' Cartel.
According to Newseverday, the series has shown the Cali Cartel in the previous installment. The publication also cited that since Pablo's story is no longer appropriate for the show due to his death in the recent season, it was a necessity for the series to find another story arc.
The executive producer of the series, Eric Newman, said that they named the series "Narcos" in order to introduce more storylines involving narcotics. This might be why sources say that the death of Pablo might not be the end of the show, but a start of another exciting one from "Narcos" Season 3 onwards.
Moreover, during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Newman revealed an interesting insight that fans might see in the upcoming "Narcos" Season 3. The report noted the trailer of the third installment in which it shows Pablo's appearance panning out and being replaced by Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela (Damian Alcazar).
When asked if Gilberto is going to be the latest Pablo of the franchise, Newman reiterated that nobody can replace Pablo Escobar. He added that although he admits that Gilberto's story will have a big part on "Narcos" Season 3, he emphasized that there are still 3 other members of the Cali Cartel, which includes Gilberto's brother Miguel (Francisco Denis), Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann), and Chepe who will soon be introduced in the show.
In other news, the son of Pablo, who has changed his name from Juan Pablo Escobar to Sebastian Marroquin, said that "Narcos" have inaccurately showed the life of his father.
Marroquin emphasized that a lot of lies has been told in "Narcos," including the attack of Escobar in Gilberto Rodriguez's daughter during her wedding. The son of the Colombian King Pin revealed that the Escobar cartel did not, at any time, attack the Rodriguez family. In regards to this, the creators of "Narcos" have already said that some story arcs of the show have been fictionalized to add substantial drama to the series.
