Many people believed that Carmelo Anthony took a small shot to Jeremy Lin when asked about his former teammate being signed by the Brooklyn Nets. Lin finally responded to Anthony in an interview but he only had nice things to say about his relationship with the New York Knicks superstar.

The controversial comments made by Anthony happened on Friday after the Knicks practice. The 32-year-old forward seemed surprised by the Nets' decision to make Lin the team's star. But he added that he is happy for his former teammate and he is excited for him.

"He is the face of their franchise - believe it or not," Anthony told Marc Berman of the New York Post after the team's practice.

"I'm happy for him, excited for him to see how it's going to turn out over there," he added.

Despite Anthony saying he is happy for Lin, many people think that it was a slight. However, the new starting point guard for the Nets only has some great words for Anthony. He also thinks that the Knicks star's comments about him are not a big deal.

"I don't think it's a big deal, to be honest. I don't really know what he said," Lin told Brian Lewis of the New York Post in an interview.

"When I see him I'll say what's up. I said this literally since Day 1: Every time I've run into him or had personal interaction with him, he'd been really nice to me and really cordial to me," he added.

The 28-year-old guard also explained that he has never butted heads with Anthony during his time in New York. He added that the three-time Olympic Gold Medalist has not mistreated him in person. If anyone has a question about Anthony's comments, Lin wants them to ask Melo themselves.

It is not the first time that Anthony has taken a shot at Lin. He called the Houston Rockets' $25 million contract with the Harvard alum in 2012, "ridiculous."

Former head coach Mike D'Antoni also confirmed in several interviews that Anthony resented the fact that Lin was becoming a star in New York during his "Linsanity" run. Former Knick, Amar'e Stoudemire, also said the same thing but he never mentioned Anthony's name.

Nevertheless, the issue has been four years old and both Lin and Anthony are doing great with their respective teams. Lin has the chance to have a career-year in his first season in Brooklyn while Anthony tries to help the Knicks make it back to the playoffs.
