AMD could be launching the Radeon RX 490 video card by the end of the year based on the recent slip ups by the company itself and Sapphire.
In the past few weeks, the AMD Radeon RX 490 card has been seen in some of the lists from the company's own website and Sapphire's too. Both companies did not address their mistakes and the rumors which could mean that they could be true.
AMD Radeon RX 490 Specs and Features
Since the RX 490 is more or less confirmed to be existing, many are asking what it can bring to the table or when it will be released. The AMD video card is expected to be more powerful than its RX 480 predecessor which is matched for the NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU.
NVIDIA's GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 do not currently have a match yet from AMD but the latter is expected to bring the Vega 10 and Vega 11 GPUs next year. It is also not confirmed whether the AMD Radeon RX 490 is based on the Polaris or the Vega architecture, iTech Post has learned.
There have been rumors of AMD launching a Vega Magnum chip before the year ends and some speculate that it could be the Radeon RX 490. However, there have been no solid proof yet regarding the claims.
AMD could launch the Radeon RX 490 as early as late 2016 or as late as early 2017 based on the current rumors, Headlines and Global News reported. There are even some absurd rumors claiming that the RX 490 will be able to support 4K games which is too high of a leap over the RX 480 which struggles at 1440p.
Still, the fact that the new GPU is part of the Radeon RX 4XX series could mean that it will be releasing soon if AMD will be using a new naming nomenclature for their Vega cards. If the RX 490 is powered by Vega then it could mean that AMD will be still using the same series for their new cards that will be launched sometime in 2017.
