WWE superstar Paige continues to make headlines this weekend when he proposed to real-life boyfriend Alberto Del Rio in a wrestling event in Puerto Rico. The latest rumors have revealed her status with the WWE and if she has any future in the company.
Paige has had a terrible 2016 after a great first two years on the WWE main roster that was highlighted by winning the WWE Divas championship twice. She started the year on the shelf and she did not have any long storyline on television.
The 24-year-old then got suspended for 30 days in August for violating the WWE's Wellness Policy. She was already on thin ice with her bosses due to her relationship with Del Rio. After serving the suspension, she announced that she will be having neck surgery.
However, Paige got suspended again by the WWE for violating the Wellness Policy for the second time and this time it is for sixty days. The situation between the Norwich native and the WWE is getting ugly but she could be sticking with the company for a long period.
According to PW Mania, the WWE is having second thoughts about releasing Paige since she has an injury. The company is worried that it will be public relations nightmare to fire an employee who has a career-threatening injury.
Paige is rumored to be undergoing neck fusion surgery that will cause her to miss six months to a year depending on her body and rehabilitation. The report noted that she would have already been fired if she was not injured.
It should also be pointed out that Paige has been removed from Monday Night Raw's opening video. She was replaced by WWE Cruiserweight Champion T.J. Perkins. The move was made because Paige has been out of WWE television since July.
On the other hand, many fans are not buying the engagement of Paige and Del Rio since she was the one who proposed. Also, Del Rio's divorce to her wife has not been finalized so the two wrestlers still cannot get married.
According to PW Insider, the engagement is legitimate and the two are now future husband and wife despite their age differences. The family of Paige, especially her father Ricky Knight, has not approved her engagement with Del Rio.
Nevertheless, the WWE has not confirmed Paige's engagement despite her previous one being filmed for Total Divas. Del Rio was recently released by the company and it would not be a good move to have him appear on their programming.
