Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar has been officially set in what could very well go down at WWE Survivor Series. The word out is that this will be a one-match deal though the WWE and the WCW legend could eventually negotiate depending on how the clash pans out.
The Oct. 17 edition of WWE Raw was all about Goldberg following the jab sent by Paul Heyman last week. The 49-year-old star technically weighed in on the drama that ensued the last time he was in the ring and filled his answers with lots of ‘maybes’, WWE.com reported.
As far as the upcoming match is concerned, it is seen nothing more than a rematch between Goldberg and Lesnar who last clashed at Wrestlemania 20. Goldberg won that one though the match drew a lot of criticism. Both of them eventually left the company after that match.
Right now most believe that Lesnar will be pulling out a win over Goldberg for obvious reasons. Lesnar has kept himself in shape while the WCW legend has spent most of his time on films and television in an acting capacity or as a commentator.
Given the time element, it will be interesting how Goldberg can whip himself back into shape and pan up against a vastly improved Lesnar. The “Beast Incarnate” has been steamrolling against opponents so it may not be ideal to see him lose to an off-shape 49-year-old.
While it may be a one-time deal, the possibility of seen Goldberg booked in future matches can also bear some fruition. Not only does it help jack up the sagging ratings of the WWE, it may also rack in profit, Bleacher Report reported.
Outside Lesnar, there are other stars that Goldberg could face. The list includes Triple H, Kane or even the new breed of stars like Roman Reigns. Plans for such will, however, depend on how the Goldberg vs. Lesnar turns out.
If Goldberg shows he still has the ring skills and stamina to do matches, expect calls for more matches for the WCW/WWE legend. It will also depend on whether Goldberg will enjoy his ring return and continue his previous run which is to portray a superhero to kids, including his son.
