BTS has reached an impressive milestone with the Kpop group's latest album "Wings." The said album made its debut on Billboard's chart at a higher place than the famous South Korean girl group 2NE1.
BTS' new album "Wings" broke 2NE1's previous record as the highest-charting Kpop album on the Billboard 200 chart, according to Billboard. The said album nabbed the 26th spot with over 16,000 units sold during the week period that ended on Oct. 13, Thursday.
"Wings" marked the South Korean boy band's second album since their debut in 2013. More than half of the said album's 16,000 sales represented actual album sold, while a quarter of the said quantity consisted of digital downloads.
With BTS' recent entry into the Billboard 200 chart, the boy band bested the famous Kpop girl group 2NE1. The said idol group previously held the highest-charting record with its 2014 album titled "Crush" that landed at number 61.
Apart from breaking the highest charting Kpop album record on Billboard, BTS' "Wings" also topped EXO's previous milestone of best-selling Kpop album. Sales of EXO's 2015 album titled "EXODUS" reached 6,000 units during its launch week as compared to BTS' "Wings" 16,000 album sales.
This is not the first time that a BTS album entered the Billboard 200 chart. The Kpop group's extended album "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2," as well as its "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever" both nabbed a place on the said chart. Released in 2015 and early 2016, the two albums landed at number 171 and 107, respectively.
In other news, BTS also reached a similar milestone in the U.K. when the group's second full-length album debuted at number 62 on the Official Charts, according to the Korean news outlet Joins.com. Considered as the country's Billboard chart, "Wings" also nabbed the 16th spot on Official Charts' Indie album listing.
BTS released "Wings" on Oct. 10 that featured an eclectic mix of hip-hop tunes and lively tracks. Watch the music video "Blood Sweat and Tears" which is also included in the said album:
