West Ham is on a two-game unbeaten run after going on a four-game losing slide to somehow stay at the 15th spot of the league table. They are tied on points with newly-promoted clubs Burnley and Hull City, but has the middling goal difference, to remain a point above the bottom three relegation area.

The Hammers were able to nip Crystal Palace, 1-0, on the road at the Selhurst Park last Saturday despite being down to 10 men in the closing minutes, getting their first win in six matches, as per Goal.

Manuel Lanzini scored in the 19th minute with a sweeping goal off the passing plays of Dimitri Payet and Aaron Cresswell. The goal proved to be the winner as both sides went scoreless since then.

Palace had the chance to equalize when Cresswell was sent off in the 75th minute after the left-back was booked for a second yellow card after a challenge on Wilfried Zaha on the right wing.

Meanwhile, cellar-dwelling club Sunderland remained as the only winless team in the English top flight after eight rounds of competitions after surrendering a 0-2 game to fellow bottom three team Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium last Saturday, ESPN reported.

Head coach David Moyes' squad was not able to respond with anything after two first half goals from the Potters, courtesy of a brace from Joe Allen in the eighth and 45th minutes.

The Black Cats have struggled to score this season despite their defense holding on against some of the best teams in the Premier League.
