City is currently on a two-game winless slide after winning their first six matches of the new season. The team still remains in the top spot of the overall standings, though, despite its current downward spiral, but second-running squad Arsenal has already caught up with them on points earned.
Head coach Pep Guardiola's team was held to a 1-1 draw by fellow contending squad Everton also at the Etihad last Saturday, as per Sports Mole.
It was a tight contest from the kickoff as both sides struggled to find goals despite several chances for each one.
The Toffees drew first blood in the game after Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku buried a brilliant goal in the 64th minute with an evasive move around defender Gael Clichy before going one-on-one against Claudio Bravo.
City was able to level the count eight minutes later as substitute winger Nolito netted a goal just 59 seconds after he was sent in by Guardiola.
Meanwhile, Southampton is coming off a 3-1 crushing of newly-promoted side Burnley at their home ground of St. Mary's Stadium last Sunday, The Guardian reported.
Striker Charlie Austin netted a brace to lead the Saints in scoring, helping his team pull off a fourth consecutive unbeaten performance.
Austin opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before teammate Nathan Redmond doubled the lead with a goal right at the hour-mark of the match. Austin then converted a penalty kick in the 66th off a foul by Burnley midfielder Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
The Clarets scored a consolation goal in the 72nd via a spot kick from Welsh forward Sam Vokes to avoid a shutout.
