New details and possible spoilers for "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 will feature Ghost Rider's origin, connections to "Doctor Strange" and Mephisto appearing the show.
The plot synopsis for episode 6 of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 titled "The Good Samaritan" will feature the origin story of Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna) and he became the Spirit of Vengeance. Robbie has claimed several times in the show that he has sold his soul to the "devil" giving audiences a hint that this version of Robbie's Ghost Rider is a legitimate Spirit of Vengeance rather than being possessed by the spirit of a serial killer Eli Morrow in the comics, Screenrant reported.
YouTube channel Emergency Awesome theorized that the devil that Robbie sold his soul to could be the show's version of Mephisto since the character has been associated with the Ghost Rider comics over the years. Perhaps Robbie gave his soul to Mephisto to protect someone the same way Johnny Blaze did in the comics that transformed him into the Ghost Rider. Although there are other demonic rulers in Marvel comics such as Satannish, Belasco, Beezlebub, and so many more, Mephisto will most likely make an appearance in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 very soon.
In other news, it seems that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 will have another connection with an upcoming Marvel movie.
It seems that agents Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Daisy Johnson/Quake (Chloe Bennet) and the rest of the team will be looking for a powerful magic book called the Darkhold. Coulson learned from Robbie's uncle Eli (Jose Zúniga) that Lucy and ghost that attacked Coulson are looking for the Darkhold after a failed attempt to build a quantum particle generator that can create matter out of nothing.
In the comics, the Darkhold was written billions of years ago by a demonic entity known as Chthon. It is considered the most potent book of black magic ever created, and one of the most dangerous mystical items in the Marvel universe. The book is responsible for the creation of behind werewolves and vampires. Naturally, all that power comes at a very steep cost to mortal users, like a person's own soul.
The Darkhold is also connected to Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as Marvel's upcoming film will have Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen) stealing several forbidden books from his former mentor, the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) and he will likely look for the book of sins, SlashFilm reported.
Hydra leaders Red Skull and Daniel Whitehall and even former S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) have failed to look for the Darkhold and it seems that Coulson will be the one find it before Lucy and her ghost track it first.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns on Tuesday at 10pm on ABC.
