The confirmed sequel of the hit apocalyptic movie "Train to Busan" is said to cast the "Descendants of the Sun" star Song Joong Ki as a Doctor.
"Train to Busan" tells the story of a workaholic father who is travelling via train bound for Busan with his daughter. Unfortunately, a passenger in the train is infected with a virus which plagues the city and, thus, all passengers experienced the last journey of their lives before they reached Busan, except a child and a pregnant woman.
The melodramatic storyline coupled with remarkable twists brought "Train to Busan" its undisputed success. In fact, fans' clamor for sequel is not in vain as both the actors and director already confirmed that "Train to Busan 2" will hit the big screen in 2017.
Following this confirmation are the growing speculations on the lead characters of the movie. Since Gong Yoo has been infected in the last part of the movie, his character has to die and become a zombie, and because of this, Song Joong Ki will be part of the movie as a doctor who could provide for a cure for the virus that could potentially eradicate the plague. In addition, he is said to father Gong Yoo's daughter, Kim Su-an.
However, there are rumors that Gong Yoo might still appear in the sequel as a zombie together with Ma Dong Seok, although this does not hold water yet since the movie is still in its writing stage. According to reports, Gong Yoo suggested that the sequel can start with Ma Dong Seok's struggle as a zombie.
"Train to Busan" wave also reached Hollywood, and producers are also contemplating on a remake. It bagged the Best Director and Best Visual Effects awards during the 49th Sitges International Film Festival in Spain. In fact, two giants in the production industry, Sony and Fox, are bidding to produce the movie.
