"Pokemon Go" will soon hold its first gaming event with an upcoming holiday-themed challenge. In a recent announcement, Niantic revealed details of the mobile gaming app's Halloween event.
With Halloween just around the corner, Niantic unveiled details of its "Pokemon Go Halloween" challenge. An announcement posted on the game's official website identified some of the rewards that players may get during the upcoming "Trick or Treat" holiday.
Increased candy bonuses are up for grabs for players who will transfer Pokemon monsters to Professor Willow. With the said creature transfer, gamers can get two candies instead of the usual one piece. Six candies will be also given to players for successful Pokemon captures, while having a Pokemon travel with its trainer will result to a candy bonus of four pieces.
Apart from the candy rewards, the "Pokemon Go Halloween" event will introduce several ghostly, psychic and flying type monsters. Ghost type monsters such as Gastly, Haunter and Gengar are expected to appear more often than usual, as indicated in Niantic's announcement.
Other Pokemon monsters that will spawn more frequently include the flying type monsters Zubat and Golbat. Players will also have the chance to catch more psychic type creatures such as Drowzee and Hypno.
Meanwhile, many gamers have been asking for several "Pokemon Go" enhancements such as a reliable in-game system that can track Pokemon monsters. With Niantic blocking most of the third party tracking apps, some players have expressed their disappointment over the company's actions.
Despite Niantic's previous announcement of developing a more robust tracking system, the company has yet to divulge launch details of the said gaming feature. A beta version of a new Pokemon tracker was deployed in San Francisco as part of Niantic's test activities. However, it is still unclear if the said beta version will be rolled out to other areas.
In an interview with Polygon, a Niantic representative disclosed that said beta version is still in its testing phase. Geo-locked in the Bay area, it may take some time before the Pokemon tracker will be released to other areas. The representative stated, "At this moment, there is no estimated timeline to potentially rolling it out wider."
"Pokemon Go's" first Halloween event will run from Oct. 26, Wednesday until Nov. 1, Tuesday. Watch the gaming event's teaser clip below:
