Apple has recently released the latest version of their mobile operating system, the iOS 10.1. After reports of a researcher at Keen Lab named Marco Grassi discovering a security hole that allows hackers to actually invade the iOS 10 through malicious JPEG files, it looks like the problem has been addressed.
The iOS 10.1 update now includes a patch that solves this security problem, Forbes reported. The update, which includes 12 security patches, works well by freshening up the system and solving security risks that prevent an Apple device from recognizing "Hey Siri" requests, impact the Bluetooth connectivity, affect the audio quality and hinder the smooth pairing with an Apple Watch. The update also stabilizes and improves the camera, among many others.
The new update delivers impressive improvements to the Apple Music, Apple Maps and Messages. While many users have downloaded and installed the update on the first day of release, others are willing to wait a few more days just to make sure it does will not cause any major problems, just like the previous updates did.
For those who do not want to install the update, Apple implements an "ecosystem" in iOS devices, which means that users are bound to install the update to make sure their devices run on optimum level. Not installing updates increases the chances of having problematic apps.
While users will receive an automatic prompt to download and install when connected to the Internet, manually installing it can be done simply by going to Settings, General, Software Update and then Download and Install. This update is compatible with the"iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4th generation and later, iPod touch 6th generation and later," according to Apple.
The update weighs between 25 to 60MB and will take about 12 minutes to install depending on the speed of the Internet connection. Those coming from an older version of the iOS will take longer to upgrade, and the update will take up more space.
