Even South Korean actor Park Bo-Gum cannot believe the level of fame he achieved. The 23-year-old Hallyu star portrayed Joseon's Crown Prince Lee Yeong in KBS 2TV's "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds."
Following the successful run of the KBS drama, the entire cast and staff members flew straight to Cebu, Philippines for a much-needed vacation. After five days and four nights at the Queen City of the South, the group returned to South Korea on Oct. 25, Tuesday.
Park, who gained widespread fame in 2015's "Hello Monster," delightedly shared his vacation trip experience in Cebu, Philippines during a sit-down interview with the Kpop Herald on Oct. 26, Wednesday. He admitted that he was surprised by the warm welcome from hundreds of Cebuano fans.
"I did not have activities in the Philippines before, but many fans recognized me and greeted me with overflowing cheers," Park said, wondering why they got mobbed at the Mactan Cebu International Airport upon their arrival. "I found 'Moonlight Drawn by Clouds' was said to have aired through KBS World. I didn't know that."
Park then stated he sincerely appreciated fans' attitude, as it helped them rest completely in Cebu City. Though locals recognized them as a group of celebrities, fans just nodded them with smiles instead of pulling out their smartphones to take lots of photos, Park added.
The "Reply 1988" actor also talked about his favorite experience from their vacation trip. Since the travel agency booked Korean restaurants throughout the entire trip, Park and Kwak Dong-Yeon skipped the Korean dishes and had a local food.
"I skipped the Korean dishes there, without telling anyone and had local food," Park revealed. "We couldn't have been more pleased. What an escape."
The special vacation trip was given by the KBS network to celebrate the show's successful run, according to local newsoutlet Sports Donga, as cited by Han Cinema. A bunch of photos was widely circulated on Facebook.
