When "Dead Space 3" failed to reach the 5 million target audience, reports about the fourth installment's development became very few. Despite this, fans continued to hope the production would push through. Since followers are very eager to get information whether a sequel is still likely to happen, general manager Steve Papoutsis dropped hints in a previous interview.
Visceral Games spoke about the issue and clarified details about a potential sequel. During an interview with Games TM, Papoutsis said:
"Many, many people here at Visceral have a warm spot in their heart for Dead Space, and right now we're busy with Hardline and...other things," ... "but it's definitely something we'd love to look at again."
"There's definitely a lot of interest internally for us to pick that up again at a future date."
Although the statement does not provide concrete information, it may somehow indicate that all hope is not yet lost for "Dead Space 4." It can be recalled that Frank Gibeau previously announced the fate of "Dead Space 4" will be based on the performance of the newly released installment during that time, "Dead Space 3." Since the entry did not meet the cut, this has greatly affected the certainty of its sequel.
Meanwhile, fans over at Game Rant listed several features they wanted to experience in case the sequel launches. When "Dead Space 3" was released, some complained the game deviated from the original which had a lot of survival horror elements.
Aside from the horror elements, followers are eyeing to again experience the narrow sites and locations the game franchise provided in its past entries. They are agreeing that the most effective locations used are those with claustrophobic environments, which allowed players to have close encounter with their enemies.
One of the elements that made "Dead Space 2" very effective was because it was able to bring psychological horror inside the game. The second installment opened instances where Isaac, the game's main protagonist, experienced several hallucinations which turned them to new enemies.
Fans are also missing the tools which Isaac utilized in the past games. This was removed in "Dead Space 3" when an increase in human enemies required the character to use more rifles rather than the plasma cutter and ripper.
As of the moment, there is still no definite information about the formation of "Dead Space 4." For other news about the franchise, watch the clip below.
