Previous episodes hinted that Rebecca (Mandy Moore) cheated with Miguel even before Jack died.
The heartbreaking fifth episode of "This Is Us" revealed that Jack is dead in 2016 and it opened more possibilities for the narrative. Questions like how Jack died? What happened to Rebecca and Miguel? Why are they together? can be answered as the series progresses.
However, the show hinted that Rebecca may have cheated with Miguel before Jack died. In the second episode, Miguel left a message to Jack when he commented about his drinking problem. Miguel admitted that he was envious of what Jack and Rebecca had. He also seemed to admire Rebecca by enumerating her good qualities, including, and not limited to, "a greater ass". He also applauds Rebecca's resolve to raise three children.
The third episode showed an aging Rebecca (Mandy Moore) in a surprise visit to Randall's (Sterling K. Brown) home with Jack's bestfriend, Miguel. The pair is on their way to New York to watch the Broadway production of "Hamilton". It is implied that Miguel and Rebecca are together. However, while the kids called Miguel grandpa, Randall called him Miguel and seemed to be irritated of his visit.
"This Is Us" is created and directed by Dan Fogelman. The pilot received rave reviews from critics and viewers and the series was picked up for a whole season just hours after its pilot. The show stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, and Sterling K. Brown.
