The cast and crew of “From Vegas to Macau II” celebrate the success of their film after it topped the Chinese box-office charts with more than HK$700 million ($113.71 million) sales in mainland China, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Starring Chow Yun-fat, Nick Leung, Carina Lau and many others, the sequel to Wong Jing's crime comedy "From Vegas to Macau" released on the beginning of the Lunar New Year has traveled its way to the top spot, even overtaking John Cusack and Jackie Chan's "Dragon Blade."
Both the film's director, Jing Wong, and its producer, Andrew Lau, expressed their hopes that their film would be able to beat the 1-billion mark as the comedic sequel continues its reign at the top spot.
They even admitted that they are very happy now that their film has a guaranteed profit, and their dedication and hard work are paying off.
Meanwhile, lead actors Leung and Chow goofed around during the event, each jokingly vying for being the main reason for the film's success.
Kidding aside, though, the two actors lent credit for the triumph of their flick to all the members of the cast and crew, without whom the film would not be created at all.
Trailing behind the comedic sequel is Jean-Jacques Annaud's "Wolf Totem," which took $47.24 million over the week beginning Feb. 23 until March 2.
Chan's "Dragon Blade," which initially took the top spot until the weekend following the Lunar New Year, has been bumped down to third place with $45.88-million earning over the Lunar New Year weekend.
