iPhone 7 was recently announced by Apple but all news in the air points out to the anniversary iPhone, iPhone 8. The new device from Apple is set for a 2017 release during the celebration of the iPhone's 10th anniversary.
iPhone users speculated that technically, the next iPhone may be the iPhone 7s, however, the new iPhone is said to be a big and important upgrade that Apple cannot give it anything other than a new number. I addition, it is rumored that Apple may be holding back some major updates and improvements for the iPhone 8. The highly anticipated device may as well be called simply The iPhone, or iPhone Pro, but according to PC Advisor, the to be released 2017 iPhone gadget will be called the iPhone 8 for now.
An Apple employee may have confirmed the iPhone 8 name as he referred to the new device by the name "iPhone 8" unprompted when speaking to Business Insider. For now, the iPhone for 2017 is unpredictable because it is expected to mark a big anniversary for the smartphone world.
"Apple plans bigger design changes for 2017, the 10th anniversary of the original iPhone," Wall Street Journal reported adding that the change could be an edge-to-edge organic light-emitting diode. The device may also see the elimination of the home button and according to people familiar with the matter, Apple may add a fingerprint sensor into the display.
If the tech giant follows its tradition, then the iPhone 7 that was launched this year will be followed by the iPhone 7S in 2017. However, been 10 years since the original iPhone was released, it means this could all go out the window.
Apple may want to do something special during the anniversary and an 'S' model, which usually comes with small tweaks, will not suffice. This is just a speculation as Apple has kept such news under wrap but it is perfectly in the public domain that the new phone will not follow Apple's usual pattern.
It is rumored that the year 2017 will see three new iPhone models and fans expect a third new "Pro" model with a 5.5 in or above curved screen in addition to the usual 4.7- and 5.5 in models. The new Pro model is said to have the screen bent on the two sides making it look like a Galaxy Note 7 rival.
If tradition continues, the iPhone 8 release date will be in September 2017, a year that marks the 10th anniversary of the original iPhone launch. The iPhone may see a price increase having in mind that the iPhone 7 price jumped up to £599 in the United Kingdom.
