Speaking out on Donald Trump's presidential victory just like other Hollywood celebrities, award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence penned an open letter to air her opinion. She joins other celebrities who have spoken out, including Aaron Sorkin and George R.R. Martin, author of book and TV series "Game of Thrones".
"I want to be positive; I want to support our democracy, but what can we take away from this?" said Lawrence' open letter in Broadly, an American digital video channel for women. The 26-year old actress hopes to turn fear and anger into hope.
"It's a genuine question that we all need to ask ourselves. We shouldn't blame anyone, we shouldn't riot in the streets. We should think strongly and clearly about what to do next because we cannot change the past," it continued. .
Channeling the Katniss Everdeen of "The Hunger Games" in her, Lawrence encouraged Americans to not be disappointed and instead take action. She told Hilary Clinton's supporters to "think strongly and clearly".
"Like Hillary, you can still be an inspiration and get important things done. Do not let this defeat you-let this enrage you! Let it motivate you! Let this be the fire you didn't have before. If you are an immigrant, if you are a person of color, if you are LGBTQ+, if you are a woman-don't be afraid, be loud!" she wrote.
Trump won the elections Wednesday and was elected the 45th president of America. The 70-year old business tycoon defeated rival Hilary Clinton, who has already conceded while votes are still being counted. Clinton is ahead and may win the popular vote, but Trump has clearly won the majority of the Electoral College votes, Bloomberg reported.
In a speech, Trump had called out to America to be united as one, and promised to be "president for all Americans. He will be sworn in on January 20 of next year, and will lead the Republican-controlled congress and senate.
