Park Ha Seon, best known for her role as Queen Inhyeon in MBC's "Dong Yi" (2010), has secured a supporting role in "Young Cop" (literal title). The 29-year-old actress will join previously announced actors Kang Ha Neul and Park Seo Joon.
Ha Seon is up to play Joo-Hee, a senior officer at the Korean National Police University, Han Cinema reported. She has a strict and cold demeanor, but is exceptionally kind and thoughtful on the other side. Joo-Hee, Kang Hee Yeol (Kang) and Hwang Ki-Joon (Seo-Joon) witness a kidnapping incident and become involved in the investigation.
"Young Cop" will benefit from the creativity of director Kim Joo-Hwan, who helmed the 2013's "Koala" and 2011's "Goodbye My Smile." Filming for the movie is expected to start before the year ends. More details about the project will be revealed soon.
Kang, who began his career in musical theater, recently starred in the SBS historical drama "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo." He played the gentle and sweet 8th prince, Wang Wook, who dream of becoming a king.
Kang's tremendous prominence in Singapore and Malaysia contributed to the show's popularity growth in the said countries. The SBS drama reached more than 70 percent share of timeslot among the four Korean entertainment channels there.
In a released press statement obtained by Hello Kpop, Senior Vice President and Head, Content, Production & Marketing for Sony Pictures Television Networks Asia, Virginia Lim, said broad publicity efforts have prompted to the monstrous success of "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo." He added that the outstanding ratings bear testimony to the drama's strong appeal to fans, particularly those who have seen its original Chinese counterpart.
"The extensive promotional and publicity efforts by ONE - including the fan meeting with one of the leading men Kang Ha Neul - undoubtedly further raised awareness and bolster anticipation of the program here," Lim added. "The thrill of being able to catch the drama at the same time as Korea for the first time ever in Southeast Asia has helped to boost 'Scarlet Heart's' ratings."
