The Milwaukee Bucks could send John Henson to the Miami Heat in hopes of moving the big man to a team that could give him a more established role on the court.
Henson continues to have a limited role with the Bucks, which could open up trade possibilities for the 25-year-old forward, according to Bleacher Report's Adam Fromal. Henson only averages 14.5 minutes per game early this season, which is fairly lower than his minutes in the past two seasons.
"This 25-year-old is still brimming over with two-way potential. Even if he's a one-way contributor, his interior defense is so strong that he could justify a major role," Fromal wrote. "But it's beyond clear: Milwaukee won't give him that chance."
With Greg Monroe emerging as a trade candidate for Milwaukee, many expected Henson to step up and become the Bucks' top option at the frontcourt. But it seems the Bucks have yet to figure out a role for the versatile forward.
Fromal explored a potential trade that would see the Bucks sending Henson to the Miami Heat for Josh McRoberts, Dion Waiters and Derrick Williams. Adding McRoberts and Williams would give the Bucks added depth at the four spot, while Waiters addresses the team's lack of scoring option at the backcourt.
On the other hand, the Heat would receive a two-way player who could fill as the team's top option at the power forward position. With Chris Bosh already out of the Heat's plans, Henson would make a decent replacement for the All-Star forward.
Henson is far from what Bosh can offer, but the former's ability to score inside and outside the paint would do wonders for the Heat. Henson's versatility on the defensive end should also see him as a fitting piece in Miami's hope to contend post Big-Three Era.
It is unclear whether the Bucks would be interested in trading away Henson, who has played for Milwaukee since getting drafted by the team as 14th overall back in 2012. But considering the crowded frontcourt of the Bucks, it is possible they shop Henson before the Feb. 23 trade deadline.
