When the new "Beauty and the Beast" live-action adaptation trailer was released, fans couldn't help but feel nostalgic about the classic tale of true love. It is tale as old as time indeed, but one that has remained fresh in the hearts and memory of many.
The "Beauty and the Beast" trailer looks as grand as anyone could ever have imagined, and with touches reminiscent of the 1991 animated film. The "Beauty and the Beast" cast members - Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as Beast and Luke Evans as Gaston - all had their major moments in the trailer. The trailer also shows the furniture brought to life and speaking in accents quite similar to the ones in the original version.
A side-by-side comparison of the "Beauty and the Beast" live-action remake and the original animated version shows that both movies are almost exactly similar.
The video, created by Movie Pilot, shows that many of the elements and the scenes in the 1991 "Beauty and the Beast" movie was incorporated in the live-action remake. The particular scenes include Beast showing Belle his vast library, their first dance (Watson's Belle pays homage to the classic Disney princess by wearing a similar yellow gown), and the one where Gaston riles up the townsfolk to kill Beast.
Perhaps, one crucial thing that will differentiate the animated and the live-action versions is Belle's backstory. In the 1991 "Beauty and the Beast" movie, Belle's father is an inventor. Although her true occupation was not mentioned, she was revealed to be a bookworm, and in director Kevin Kline's live-action adaptation, Belle is the inventor.
"I was like, 'Well, there was never very much information or detail at the beginning of the story as to why Belle didn't fit in, other than she liked books," Entertainment Weekly quoted Kline as saying. "Also what is she doing with her time?' So, we created a backstory for her, which was that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so that, instead of doing laundry, she could sit and use that time to read instead."
"Beauty and the Beast" live-action will premiere on March 17, 2017.
