Professional wrestler Scott Colton, more famously known as Colt Cabana, had a very forgettable stint in the WWE as Scottie Goldman. However, he revealed in a recent interview that he was able to make WWE Chairman Vince McMahon laugh.
"I tried to make him (McMahon) laugh a couple of times but it's like you think in your head and you go over in your head what you're going to say to this guy. And then, once you're in there it's kind of a different ballgame, I think," Cabana told Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc.
"I did one thing that made him laugh because I did tell him I was big into comedy and alternative comedy," he added.
The 36-year-old indie star was in the WWE for two years from 2007 to 2009. Cabana signed a contract with the WWE in 2007 and he was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling. He made his main roster debut as Scottie Goldman in 2008 but it was a flop.
As Goldman, he lost his debut against The Brian Kendrick. His last match was against Umaga on SmackDown and he was released on February 20, 2009. He returned to the independent circuit after his release and launched his famous podcast called "The Art of Wrestling."
Cabana told Giri that his podcast was the first of its kind in the wrestling business when he started it in 2010. As of this writing, it has over 300 episodes and still going strong. It became more famous when his best friend CM Punk was a guest.
CM Punk revealed in his podcast in 2014 the reasons why he left the WWE in January of that year. He blasted WWE management including Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Vince McMahon. He also blamed part-timers and Ryback for his frustrations.
The winless MMA fighter and Cabana are in the middle of a lawsuit with the WWE regarding the things said on the podcast. It is against WWE doctor Chris Amman, who Punk accused of misdiagnosing his MRSA infection.
However, Cabana and Punk are no longer friends. According to Wrestle Zone, Punk was unhappy with Cabana for attending a Raw taping in the middle of their lawsuit against the WWE. The two has been friends for 15 years but Punk felt that Cabana appearing backstage is not good for his lawsuit defense.
Nevertheless, Cabana has moved on and he is very happy performing in many independent promotions around the world. The success of his podcast has also brought joy for the Chicago native. Check out the video below for "The Life & Times of Scottie Goldman" in the WWE.
