Black Friday deals are all the rage especially when it comes to the iPhone 7 which was released this year and a carrier is offering the smartphone for free.
The Black Friday deal at Verizon grabbed attention this year as soon as the carrier made it official on its website. However, this particular deal from Verizon is not unique as T-Mobile has already showcased a similar offering for Black Friday.
Importantly, the free iPhone 7 offering from T-Mobile has become a hit and it appears that Verizon wants to follow in its footsteps. As the offer from Verizon started rolling out, Fortune stated that carriers are bringing out similar deals in order to beat the competition and attract customers. They are adopting this policy as the market is slowing with fewer new customers being added.
As far as this particular offer from Verizon, customers will have to turn in their existing phone to take advantage of it. However, only if customers turn in one of the 13 eligible phones they will be able to get the offer. In addition, customers will also have to purchase a device payment plan along with after completing the trade in.
Verizon is also providing a similar offer for other smartphones including the Google Pixel and Samsung's flagship smartphone of this year the Galaxy S7, so customers who prefer Android Phones will not be left behind.
In terms of the competing deal from T-Mobile CIO stated that customers should spend time reading the fine print as they will find terms that could sour their experience. One of these terms is that customers will be charged for the iPhone 7 for 24 months but will also be provided with a credit to cover this. However, they if they leave the carrier before the term they will have to pay the balance due for the smartphone. Also, customers will have to fork out the money due for the sale tax in advance and this amount usually varies depending on which state they are in.
With Verizon offering to even take the iPhone 7 in exchange it is clear that both it and T-Mobile just want to attract more customers and keep them for two years. Finally the deal from Verizon and even T-Mobile's offering are going to run over the weekend.
