Cha Joo Hyuk, a former actor and member of the K-pop group Coed School is in the news for the wrong reasons again. He has run into trouble with authorities after being caught smuggling contraband into Canada.
In August, authorities caught the former K-pop idol trying to smuggle Ketamine, an anesthesia medicine that is often used as a party drug, at the airport in Vancouver, Canada. Urine and hair samples taken from the former star further revealed that he had used weed and ecstacy in addition to ketamine. Authorities also recovered some drugs from his vehicle, Soompi reported.
Cha, 24, is not being held in detention but his case will soon be passed on to the prosecutors, who will then file the charges against the former Coed School member. Police revealed that Cha had admitted to most of the charges.
"Cha Joo Hyuk is admitting to most of the charges, the police said on Nov. 24, Friday, in a statement obtained by AllKPop. "After results from the National Forensic Service, he cannot deny a crime was committed."
The former actor and musician made his debut with Coed School six years ago. Back then, he used to be famous as Kangho or Hot Blood Kangho. Later in his career, he decided to pursue acting under his real name and starred in JTBC's "Happy Ending" in 2012 before joining military service a year later.
This is not the first time Cha has grabbed headlines for the wrong reasons. Apart from visiting an adult entertainment facility as a minor and underage drinking, the former star has also been accused of extortion, rape and violence in the past.
Even though the female netizen who spread the rumor retracted the rape allegations and confessed to lying about the story, it had already tainted Cha's career. Check out Coed Schools' Bbiribbom Bbaeribom MV below:
