Chris Jericho is having one of the best runs of his career this year, entertainment wise. The List of Jericho is more over than half of the WWE's main roster. The latest rumors imply that the WWE may reward Jericho with one final big push that will start with winning the 2017 Royal Rumble match.
The 46-year-old legend returned to the WWE television at the start of 2016 as a babyface to confront The New Day. He went on to turn heel during his feud with A.J. Styles and introduce The List of Jericho during his rivalry with Dean Ambrose.
Jericho was able to get over a bunch of catchphrases that most WWE superstars will never be able to do. "Stupid Idiot" and "It" were regularly chanted by the crowd as they even cheer for Jericho when he comes out.
The six-time WWE World champion's friendship with Kevin Owens has also been in the spotlight. However, the seeds of a possible breakup have already been planted. Many fans believe that Jericho vs. Owens for the WWE Universal Championship will eventually happen.
According to WWE Leaks, Jericho is one of the favorites to win the Royal Rumble match and earn a ticket in the main event of WrestleMania 33. He likely turns face in the future feud with Owens and there is a big chance that he wins the Universal title.
It might not be the best idea for the WWE to do it because it does not put over anyone. However, the WWE should also reward Jericho for all the work he has done this year. He deserves to get one final run with a world title before retiring.
In a recent interview with Live Audio Wrestling Podcast, Jericho revealed that the storyline with Owens will take a long time to develop. It is even though the seeds of their breakup have already been planted in the past several weeks.
"I think the storyline with Kevin Owens and Jericho is just beginning. I think there's a lot of legs to this storyline and it's one of the rarest of things. It's a storyline that basically built organically that was never supposed to be a storyline," Jericho said.
"I think there's a lot in the tank for Jericho and Owens. Especially from what's transpired so far," he added.
