Male prisoners usually experience being sodomized by fellow inmates. For most heterosexual detainees, it is the first time they feel the pain of anal penetration.
In 2004, Tom Ford, a filmmaker and designer, said in an interview with GQ that all men should be sexually penetrated at least once in their life for males to better understand women. Although he was drunk when he said the remark, he stands by it, New York Daily News reported.
He reiterated the suggestion to the men’s magazine on Tuesday why all men should be f***ed. “It’s such a vulnerable position to be in, and it’s such a passive position to be in. And there’s such an invasion, in a way, that even if it’s consensual, it’s just very personal,” GQ quoted Ford.
Being sexually penetrated makes a person understand and appreciate what many women experience through their whole life. Ford said it is not just sexual but “a complete setup of the way the world works.”
When GQ interviewed Ford, the director of “Nocturnal Animals,” in 2004, he was drunk. At that time, he even propositioned the male writer, a heterosexual, who interviewed him. On a hindsight, Ford – married to Richard Buckley – clarified that he was just trying to take the piss out of the writer.
However, when he read the article after it was published, Ford uttered, “Oh God, what was I thinking?” When Taffy Brodesser Akner, a female writer of GQ, interviewed him again and asked about the 2004 article, Ford stood by what he said about the need for men to be anally penetrated at least once.
But he admitted to Akner that he does not want his son – a four-year-old boy named Jack – to eventually read what he said. Akner felt that while Ford did not really regret saying those remarks, he apparently wishes he did not said it.
