With the hit drama "Legend of the Blue Sea" continuing its climb to the 20 percent viewership mark, the SBS series also retained its top spot in the TV rating race for three consecutive weeks. Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun's acting abilities were recently praised by fellow cast member Sung Dong Il.
"Legend of the Blue Sea" bested other competitor dramas in the TV rating competition amongst Wednesday and Thursday primetime series. Episode 7 of Lee and Jun's fantasy drama posted nationwide viewership levels of 17.4 percent, according to Nielsen Korea.
Aired on Dec. 7, Wednesday, the SBS series also reached a 19.2 percent TV rating across the Seoul metropolitan area. However, the said episode's viewership share registered a slight decline as compared to episode 6.
The said "Legend of the Blue Sea" episode posted TV ratings that were higher than episode 7 by 1.5 percentage points and 2.9 percentage points across the South Korean nation and the Seoul metropolitan area, respectively. Episode 6 recorded nationwide ratings of 18.9 percent and 22.1 percent across Seoul and nearby cities.
Despite the SBS drama's impressive TV ratings during its debut week, Lee and Jun's mermaid drama have yet to post consistent 20 percent viewership levels. However, speculations pointed to "Legend of the Blue Sea" potentially reaching the 30 percent viewership mark given its star-studded cast and interesting storyline.
In other news, Lee and Jun's fellow cast member Sung recently shared his thoughts about the SBS drama's two lead stars. In a recent interview with local reporters, the veteran actor gushed over the two Hallyu celebrities and their acting abilities.
With Lee and Jun's passion for their craft, the two South Korean stars were able to show off an impressive acting chemistry together, All Kpop quoted Sung as saying. The "Reply 1988" actor also commended Jun for her diligence and Lee for his great personality.
