HBO Now has just been released for the new Google Daydream VR headset. Users of the said headset will be able to watch their favorite TV shows and movie available through the app in VR.
Unfortunately, the users will not be able to watch them in true 360-degree VR. Instead, the HBO Now Daydream app will let users watch in a virtual theater. It would beat having to watch it on a small screen although not all Android smartphones support Daydream VR.
Google rolled out the HBO Now Daydream app along with other games such as "Gunjack 2: End of Shift" and "LEGO BrickHeadz Builder VR," Variety reported. The search engine giant will reportedly add a Netflix app for the Daydream headset before 2016 ends. It could function similar to the HBO Now Daydream app wherein a user can watch inside a virtual theater.
Unfortunately, the Daydream VR headset is not readily compatible with all Android smartphones. The first devices announced by Google that supports the technology was the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL.
It is unknown whether other smartphones will still receive support for the said headset. Daydream supposedly works better than the currently cheap Cardboard headsets that Google released a long time ago.
Google also included the NextVR Daydream app alongside HBO Now and the former allows users to stream concerts and other events in virtual reality, The Verge reported. They also launched "Wands" and the "Underworld Overlord" which was made by the studio that made "System Shock 3."
Fans are still waiting for the "Need for Speed: No Limits VR" Daydream app which should give users a unique experience compared to the traditional racing games on a flat screen. Users who want to be scared could also try out the "Layers of Fear: Solitude" app which was adopted from the original "Layers of Fear" video game.
