Fans who have been waiting to see Song Joong Ki again on the screen need not wait any longer as the "Descendants of the Sun" actor is confirmed to make a cameo appearance as a cartoonist in the forthcoming KBS TV sitcom "The Sound of Your Heart," producers announced Thursday.
Song Joong Ki will take on the role of a successful webtoon author who is also a friend of the lead protagonist, Jo Seok, portrayed by Song's real-life friend Lee Kwang Soo. Song's character will appear in the first and last episodes of "The Sound of Your Heart." Lee Kwang Soo's character, Jo Seok, is also a cartoonist himself.
Yonhap News reported that Song's character is described by producers as a "quintessential handsome and warm-hearted guy." It is also said that Lee Kwang Soo played a big role in convincing Song Joong Ki to take part in the sitcom.
Meanwhile, "Descendants of the Sun" has made its television debut on Greek television. The hit KBS drama series is currently broadcasting in non-state Greek TV channel TV100. According to Soompi, all 16 episodes of the series will be aired in a span of 19 weeks. Three special episodes will also be aired. The additional episodes feature interviews with the staff and crew and behind-the-scenes footage from the drama series.
Greek plays an important role in the making of "Descendants of the Sun" since some of the scenes in the series were filmed in locations in Greece such as Zakynthos and Arachova. One of the most memorable scenes in "Descendants of the Sun," Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's date on the island with a shipwreck, was shot in Zakynthos.
Ambassador Ahn Young Jip of the Korean Embassy in Greece hopes that having "Descendants of the Sun" air on Greek television will foster the cultural exchange between Korea and Greece.
"Descendants of the Sun" have already aired in other countries such as Japan, Philippines and China, but it is the show's first debut in Europe. TV100 was the home of other hit South Korean drama series, including "Jewel in the Palace" and "I Miss You."
