Google is now finally bringing the widely-loved keyboard app to Android roughly six months after it was released in iOS. It is now rebranded as the aptly named Gboard.
The Gboard app allowed users to instantly search for quick information while typing on their keyboards. It beats having to switch out to a browser or the Google app from a conversation with a friend.
Android users will now be able to use the Gboard app that was already released for iOS users. At first, Android users were confused as to why Google did not release it for Android at the time considering that it was their territory.
Gboard users can just tap the Google logo while inside a conversation if they want to search for what they are typing, Tech Crunch reported. For instance, users can find the address and open hours of a nearby restaurant that they like while discussing it with their friends or loved ones.
Sharing the result is also made easier as it can be done just inside the app itself. Gboard also predicts what a user might search based on some keywords in the conversation. Chatting about the weather can bring up the information about the current temperature or rain chances which can be shared instantly with a tap.
Gboard also has some integrated functions for other Google apps such as Google Hangouts or Google Allo. Users can use Gboard to search for GIFs and share them instantly through the apps, CNET reported.
Other usual keyboard options such as autocorrect, glide typing, text predictions and voice mode are also supported in Google's Gboard app. They can be turned on or off under the settings portion of the said app.
Gboard is already available in the Google Play Store and already works in more than 100 languages. It is expected that its reach will also broaden in the following months.
