Ubisoft has launched patch 1.02 for "Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection." The patch addresses a glitch regarding the music but it also eliminates an NPC with a face so unappealing that it became viral across the Internet. This patch completely removes the NPC from the game.

According to Eurogamer, the NPC was present in the original version of "Assassin's Creed 2" but only in Sequence 1, Memory 1 aka the "Boys Will Be Boys" chapter. The original version had darker graphics which was why this NPC's face was hardly noticeable.

Gamers have attempted to record footage of the NPC in action but Ubisoft clarified that the NPC in the sequence was randomly chosen and it was possible for players to never see him. It is possible to never encounter the NPC even after multiple plays given how rare he is set to be generated.

With the new patch, however, the "weird face NPC" will no longer be included in the game's coding and thus will not appear in the sequence at all. Instead, other NPCs will be randomly chosen to appear in the same spot.

"The NPC in question only appears in Sequence 1, Memory 1 in 'Assassin's Creed 2' and is randomly generated, appearing infrequently," a representative explained when a video of the NPC became viral. "The graphics issue does not affect the core gameplay of 'Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection.'"

The launch of the patch comes just days before the launch of the live-action film adaptation starring Michael Fassbender, Gamespot reported. The film releases on Friday, Dec. 21 and Ubisoft reportedly aims to make it the first critically praised movie based on a video game franchise.

"Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection" is a remaster of the three entries in the franchise that follow the tale of Ezio Auditore. This includes the initial "Assassin's Creed 2," "Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" and "Assassin's Creed: Revelations." The remaster is available for the PS4 and the Xbox One.
