Samsung's Galaxy J3 Android smartphone is coming to the United States through three big carriers. The device will be the 2017 version instead of the current 2016 model that is available worldwide.

Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile will be making the Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 model available starting on January 6 whole Sprint will be selling it as the Galaxy J3 Emerge, Venture Beat reported. Sprint's model name does sound better compared to just calling the South Korean tech giant's new phone the J3 2017 to prevent confusion among its users.

The Galaxy J3 Emerge or the Galaxy 2017 has a 5-inch screen with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is not intended to be a high-end smartphone considering that Samsung already has the Galaxy S7 Edge flagship.

Samsung's J3 still packs quite the punch for the average user with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC and octa-core processor. It also has a generous 2GB RAM but a rather small 16GB internal storage capacity. In comparison, the J3 2016 version only had 1.5GB RAM and 8GB for the on-board storage.

The smartphone also has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper which is not the best out there but it can still be a good selfie taker. It is powered by a 2600mAh battery which can easily last a whole day on average use.

While Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile will be selling the Galaxy J3 Emerge, there is no word yet on pricing. It is also unknown whether other carriers in the United States will be carrying the Samsung Galaxy J3 2017, Android Authority reported. Interested customers can always go to eBay or Amazon to buy the smartphone from overseas with shipping fees.

Samsung's Galaxy J3 2017 or the Galaxy J3 Emerge will be available soon. Users should be able to buy it through monthly plans from the aforementioned mobile carriers.
