Rumors spread around that Korean boy band member Lay of EXO and the crew of “Operation Love,” a Chinese drama, were ordered to leave the Sun Yat-sen University because of failure by the producers to secure a permit from the university.
However, the producers clarified that they were not ordered to leave the university. Instead, a crowd started to gather at a store near the university, so the producers temporarily stopped the shooting because it is the safer option. They were not kicked out and the Sun Yat-sen University had granted them permission to shoot ahead of time, the producers said in a statement on Weibo.
Lay, or Zhang Yixing, although he is a member of EXO, a popular Korean boy band, is actually Chinese who joined in 2005 “Star Academy,” a TV talent show in China. He joined EXO – made up of Kai, Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baykhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O. and Sehun - in 2012. A former EXO member, Tao, has a lawsuit filed against him by SM Entertainment, the band’s talent agency.
His role in “Operation Love,” slated to air in 2017, is Yan Xiaolai. The drama is a remake of a Japanese drama with the same name. The story revolves around a man who missed the opportunity to tell the woman he loves of his feelings for her until it is too late. But he gets a second opportunity at love because of a fairy, according to Dramapanda.
Besides the Chinese drama, Lay is also in the cast of Jackie Chan’s movie “Kung Fu Yoga” and would be the male lead in the upcoming Chinese-South Korean film “Unexpected Love,” in which he is cast opposite Krystal, his labelmate. Both movies are yet to be shown.
