Diversifying Google Compare, Google has now included car insurance to its products suite. This is google's second take on cars after their trial and efforts to release the driverless cars which might end up disrupting the entire insurance line in the industry, as per reports by TechCrunch.
Google Compare provides comparison for a range of products including Travel Insurance, Mortgages, Credit Cars. Now they even have a Car Insurance comparison that would compare quotes from up to 125 providers. As people add cars to their quote, Google would provide a fair comparison of several providers. Insurance companies would need to highlight their business to appear in the competitive search whether it's better customer service or better discounts or better prices, as reported by The Register.
For providing this service, Google would earn through CPA or a flexible cost per acquisition scheme. Google further assured that it would not rank the companies according to their payment. It claims that its insurance comparison service will enable people to make better and well-informed choices about insurance.
This is not the first time that Google has taken on the car insurance industry. Earlier, its launch of the driverless cars shook the automobile insurance companies. Google was able to successfully present a new prototype of its driverless car without a steering or pedal on May 28, 2014.
Later in December last year, it also released a fully functional car due to be tested in San Francisco this year. Although the driverless car has its limitations and works only so far in electric cars, the insurance industry is still on the watch out.
Google hopes to commercialize its driverless cars by 2017. However not all states have legislated the use of the unmanned cars.
