The holidays is a time when everyone complains about the calories they ingest and the weight they gain. But, if you want to stay in shape and shed off excess pound after all the holiday festivities, here are some advice you need to heed from celebrity trainer, Harley Pasternak.

1. Move as much as you can the moment you wake up

"Get at least 10,000 steps a day," Pasternak shares to People Bodies. "If you know that you have a sedentary day, try to move as much as you can before you get to work, and at the end of the day try and move." He said that you can make this possible even when you're working every day.  In fact, you can take advantage of the opportunity to walk on your way to work at least a block and when you're going home.

2. Replace at least one meal of your day with a smoothie or home-made vegetable puree.

Pasternak has his own line of power blenders and he encourages everyone to replace the meal you struggle the most with a smoothie. For example, you don't have much time for breakfast, why don't you have a smoothie as an alternative instead. Or you barely have time for dinner, you can have a meal blended instead.

He also shared some of his smoothie recipes in Reader's Digest that are surely going to help you accelerate weight loss. His smoothies are a complete combination of the things you need to shed off some pounds depending on your needs. He's got a recipe which is a mixture of your needed protein and fiber and another one with the nutrients you need from a veggie salad if you can't stand eating another one.

3. Get enough time for sleep

"It's one-third of your life, and if you don't sleep enough, the next day you're going to be less likely to be as active and you're not going to be as happy," says Pasternak. He encourages you to get at least seven hours of good quality sleep.
