Samsung has not yet officially revealed the Galaxy S8 but there are now rumors of a new Galaxy S8 Plus. The latter is expected to have a larger 6-inch AMOLED screen with possibly more powerful specs.
After the latest trademark application that showed a possible Beast Mode tech for Samsung's new smartphones, the South Korean tech giant is now reportedly planning to launch the Galaxy S8 Plus alongside the base model in 2017. Its price would be more expensive considering that it will have slightly better overall quality.
Since the Galaxy S8 is already expected to have a curved edge screen, there seems to be no more use for an Edge variant. Samsung may already skip to the S8 Plus which is expected to be larger and have more powerful specs which might be activated in full power thanks to the Beast Mode technology.
Samsung's Galaxy S8 Plus will carry a 6-inch AMOLED panel with also a curved edge screen, GSM Arena reported. It could be the phablet that will replace the already-dead Galaxy Note 7 line which had a 5.7-inch screen when it was still alive at the time.
With regards to the body-to-screen ratio of the new smartphone, Samsung could eliminate the top and bottom bezels to reach over 90 percent. Earlier phablets are not as attractive as those available today because of their bulkier look with the bezels.
Samsung will be the first tech company to install their flagship smartphone with the large 6-inch screen in the form of the Galaxy S8 Plus, Korean site Naver reported. Most of the flagship smartphones today either have a 5- or a 5.5-inch screen that fits most people's pockets and bags.
Samsung may reveal the Galaxy S8 Plus alongside the base Galaxy S8 at the upcoming MWC 2017 event to be held in Spain since their last unveiling was also at the same event in 2016. Fans will be able to see what the larger smartphone might offer in terms of specs and features.
