K-pop band Big Bang's fans have to temporarily say goodbye to Choi Seung-hyun, 29, who is professionally known as T.O.P. The rapper-singer-actor is set to join the mandatory military service in February 2017.
"It still doesn't feel real," T.O.P told Korea Herald in a recent interview at the headquarters of Big Bang's label YG Entertainment in Seoul, South Korea. He added that military service is something that he has to do.
"I'm just trying to make the most of every day before I go," T.O.P said. He added that he wants to reach out to his fans.
According to T.O.P, he and his Big Bang bandmates spend much time talking about the future of their group. He said they tell each other that they will away from their career anytime they lose confidence in their art. For him, they are able to say that because they have that much trust in each other.
As an actor, T.O.P is starring in the German-Chinese action thriller movie titled "Out of Control," which is set to be released by Huaxia Distribution in China. In the film, the K-Pop star will play Tom Young, a Korean secret agent, who is also the former fiancé of Lucy Lin, a Chinese film and martial arts star played by "Shaolin Soccer" star Cecilia Cheung, Variety has learned.
"Out of Control" is written by Andreas Heckmann and directed by Axel Sand and Richard Lin. It also stars Michael Trevino, who is known for playing Tyler Lockwood in "The Vampire Diaries."
Trevino's character in "Out of Control" is named Kayser. Joining T.O.P, Cheung and Trevino in the cast are Steve Windolf, Blerim Destani, Eskindir Tesday, Martin Umbach, Johny Mathew, David Chun Cheung, Marko Dyrlich, Merle Collet, Joe Toedtling, Siu Hun Li and Jonas Berg, among others.
